It was 2001, iPhone didn't release til 2007. Camera phones weren't like what they are today, some people credit the first real one as coming on the market in late 2000. People had a little more sense about what they took pictures and video of back then because you were using a camera or camcorder. So not as many images of stuff like that exist or were taken because they started blocking off the area and people coming out of the towers/subway didn't all have smartphones in their pockets.

In a way, I'm glad they didn't exist back then. Could you imagine the gut wrenching stories of live tweeting from above the impact zones? The calls to love ones?

Smart phones have changed the world for the good. But man, seeing the unedited would have been tough.
