Yes, everyone is impressed with our offense since he came on board. Yes, his former coworkers give him stellar reviews when it comes to work ethic, knowledge, etc.
At the same time, he was a GA 3 years ago. He doesn’t have a recruiting record to evaluate. It’s not clear how much of the in-game decision making is coming from him vs. E. And even if he is making the in-game decisions, he has two games under his belt (one vs. a power 5 opponent).
I’m not saying this because I’m down on Joe Brady - I absolutely fricking love what he has brought to this program. And I believe he will have opportunities if he wants them when this season is over. The question is, where will those opportunities be?
No successful power 5 program is going to hand their offensive future over to someone with one year of playcallimg experience and no recruiting record. He may get a shot at a smaller school or a recovering program but is that better than what he has now?
He can go try to prove himself somewhere with less talent or he can stay here and be loaded with studs every year. He can risk a black mark on his resume, or he can stick around knowing that Ensminger is retiring soon. It seems likely to me that LSU will at least give him a Co-OC title if things continue down this road. Can those lesser schools even justify the OC salary it would take to pull our Co-OC away at that point?
My point is - everyone needs to relax. Orgeron and Woodward will do what it takes to keep him here. That may or may not mean he’s the full OC next year, but he is in the best place to climb the ladder and he will be paid what he’s worth.
Just my 2 cents.

The question still stands. If we have this success all year and another SEC team comes calling for him, do we let him walk out the door? It's a simple question. The rest is meaningless.

Orgeron and Woodward will do what it takes to keep him here.
