I have a 7 and wanted to upgrade this year. It's been bugging out and I don't know if it will last another year, but I may just deal with it until it does crap out.

I’ve still got my iPhoneX but the screen just cracked a few weeks ago. I may hold onto it anyway

probably, next year should be the better upgrade since it will be 5G compatible. They seem to have moved to a 3 year design change cycle instead of 2 year.
