Varies by state but I think LA courts held the DUI laws don't apply to bicycles.
Gotcha. I asked because I had no clue. I've heard of it some cases but maybe not in LA. I had a co-worker's cousin get one on a riding lawnmower

IIRC the issue with the LA court was the law uses the words "motor vehicle" then a list of things like aircraft and watercraft and ends with other means of conveyance. The LASC decided other means could mean either motorized or not motorized so with the ambiguity they ruled for the accused. The legislature has never addressed the ambiguity.
Lawnmowers or any other motorized transport would not fall into this loophole.
HOWEVER, I came back to this thread since my wife and I were talking about the Gotcha bikes and she told me they were e-bikes which I did not realize. The motor means these particular bikes would indeed fall under the LA DUI laws.
I am sure you don't care about the code sections or the SCLA case but if you do and can't find them with a simple Google I will track them down for you.
