She's a world class soccer player. Not some random 37 year old woman. She also hasn't had a tryout yet. She's just been contacted by teams after she kicked a 55 yarder. And I know she took 7 steps or whatever. I am sure she will train to kick real field goals.

Again. I don't know why y'all are so mad about this. It's not like she's trying to take your job.

Discussing the absurdity of her getting any shot at the NFL is being mad? May a swell shut down discussion boards if we can't discuss things.

ETA: I literally can kick a football father than here at this moment with the proper amount of steps. No NFL teams would even take a call from me. You really trying to defend this as anything other than PR?

It's not just you, it's like 3/4 of this board. And it's obviously not that absurd because she's apparently had contact from two different teams. A team isn't going to waste a roster spot on her if she isn't good enough. The backlash from signing someone to miss field goals and costing potential games would be much worse than the PR bump they'd get from signing her.

To your second point: I knew someone in high school who didn't play football after his senior year. He was a good kicker for a high schooler but never played in college. He basically just did intramural soccer and didn't do anything else football related. He started kicking footballs again after he graduated and still had quite a bit of power. He sent film to all 32 teams and guess what? He got a tryout with the Redskins. He didn't get signed but he still got a tryout. It happens more often than you think.
