Katrina seems to still be the most significant single event to alter my life time line. I usually don't notice I do it, but when telling a story I use the qualifier "back before the storm" or "after the storm" to frame a reference of time.

That was unreal seeing how it basically just removed all the houses from their locations
And into the Bay/Sound. Along with the 90 bridge.
They were dredging cars and appliances out of there for over a year as I recall.

NOLA has to steal Biloxi's thunder.
I guess 80,000 houses flooding and over 1300 deaths would do that...

We get hit all the time in Florida, we just don't cry like a little bitch.
Because Floridians are too fricked up to realize what happened to them...

Grandparents' house in Eden Isles had 9 feet of water. I'll never forget the look on my grandma's face when they were staying with us up in Memphis and my dad looked up a satellite image of their house, turned to her, and said, "Mom, your house is underwater."
My grandparents lived there too. They never fully recovered from Katrina. My grandmother took it the hardest. I’ll never forget the day we went back to their house after the storm.
