Once you leave Nashville the state of Tennessee devolves culturally with each passing mile. However if you are staying at the Peabody you could go to Beale Street, Riverfront etc and eat/shop. Below is their minor league baseball schedule..

Commissary in Germantown was my favorite BBQ, not traditional Memphis though.
Nashville abandoned any culture it had and replaced it with tourist garbage. It just a bland city now, full of hipsters.
