So, in your reasoning, when was the last time it burned? Maybe 10,000 years ago. so the trees are 10,000 years ol and starved for nutrients as their roots are several hundred feet above the soil and they are surrounded by rotten leaves.

When there's low humidity, forests and grasslands burn. Always have, always will.

In the eastern US, fires are more serious in winter because of the low humidity. For the most part, in summer, they smolder.

Almost 4 square miles have burned.

Mind, the Amazon is over 2,124,000 square miles...
