This year we went to Disneyland and it was awesome because hardly anybody was there at that time of year.

Man, we did 3 days at DL Memorial Day weekend and it was perfect

Never waited more than 20 minutes. Rode every ride in both parks 3x. You can’t beat staying across the street and just walking over and never taking a bus.

I also like how you can just drive 20 minutes and have dinner on the beach and do other things around SoCal.

Oh yeah, did I mention it never got above 68 degrees all week? Amazing.

DL is a great park to go to, it's more of a local park than a lot of tourists. A lot of the classic rides still there and ones still at WDW are different than at DL. It's definitely the better park to go to if you want to deal with less people. WDW is getting to be insane no matter the time of year.

We passing around the idea of maybe going back for Mardi Gras

I think you are booking too far out. Wait until the fall. Disney does a lot of deals now for the next season, so right now in summer they are running deals for Fall. This fall they will do winter and maybe spring. Then late fall run deals for Spring.

There's no reason to book Disney more then 6 months out when you can book your meal reservations. But even those are easy to get closer in. Disney made the meal reservations 6 months out to push people to make reservations before they run their big discounts for the season.

Staying onsite is overly expensive and overrated too.
Way off base there. It is not overly expensive and far from overrated. Just the use of the transportation system tips the scales, not to mention convenience and experience.

Ain’t no way this is correct, or you got one Hell of a deal.
Tickets are not included in that price if you are trying to compare to the OP.

Can always change reservations if a better deal becomes available. Also, many of the popular restaurants are not easy to get closer than 6 months out.

check out these guys. They run agency exclusives. I just priced an October trip, and their agency exclusive is about $1500 less than going through disney with the 20% off room deal.

They don't always have them, but when they do, they are substantially cheaper.

I think Mardi Gras being end of February is going to mean no discounts.

Book Dvc studio

Or wait for spring discounts to hit (usually become available in September)

Or use a free Disney travel agent that will monitor and adjust price if discount becomes available after you book
