You can say that, but it was pretty clear LSU would have lost the 1st time to Bama without putting Jefferson in the game. Lee had two picks and was extremely rattled. Lee did a great job his senior year and should have at least gotten a chance in the national championship, but I seriously doubt LSU would have gotten the Bama treatment and made it to the NC if we would have went 11-1 in the regular season.
A tough break having to play the best pure defense of the modern era of football again along with Miles' stubbornness did us in. But it was a hell of season up to that point.

I disagree: LSU had the better defense that year.
LSU did two things Bama didn't have to do that year:
1) beat two teams with a top-10 offense, while Bama didn't play any team with a top-40 offense.
2) get Jordan Jefferson to a national championship game.
