What’s the difference in throwing three incompletions and running the ball three times for no first down and punting? Nothing. LSU will still run the ball. LSU will get the team set as quick as possible read the defense and allow Burrow maximum time to figure out what to do with the ball.

THAT’s the difference in wearing out your defense when you go three and out.

Thank you. In his attempt to be a smartass, he didn't even realize he made my point.

Lord, do you not watch college football? Many, if not most, college teams get play(s) in as quick as possible and get set on the line ASAP.....this prevents the D from subbing players and forces them to get defensive call in and the defense set early.....this then allows the QB to take his time, survey the field to see what the defense is giving him.....QB can then call for the ball with the initial play that was called in or audible to secondary play (or run the RPO).....a hurry up or uptempo or whatever you want to call it offense does not mean that you are trying to hike the ball ASAP every time.....it gives them the option to do that when advantageous and have the D on the ropes and gassed.....but IMO the most important thing it does is puts the offense in more control of the game by not allowing the defense to sub as much and rest between plays, they have to get back up to the line of scrimmage and always be ready for the quick snap.

Again, just because we get set as quick as possible does not mean we are running a Chip Kelly type offense and potentially wear our D out with quick 3 and outs. It gives us options and more control of what the defense can do.

Not if you are still running the play clock down to less than 10 seconds. This isn’t hard people. Watch other teams besides LSU a lot go no huddle and do a check with me shift and motion guys and they still run the playclock down. It takes the same amount of time as huddling just allows the offensive coordinator and qb maximum time to read the defense. Some times you can go tempo out of this to keep the defense off balance but usually you won’t do this until after first downs and short yardage or if you catch the defense trying to substitute and get a penalty for too many men on the field.
