Maybe. I worked summers as a kid 30 years ago on a horse ranch and they had hands who lived on site. My memories are that you wouldn’t want to raise a family there. It was more or less a work camp for single dudes.
I’m just trying to understand the point of this thread (other than to bitch about lazy kids). It sounds like his labor needs are being met. That he’s doing so at a rate less than he could do if he hired only Americans (despite likely misclassifying the ones he does hire as exempt employees). I think the biggest problem with farm labor is likely as much related to the urbanization of America as the laziness of Americans. Most rural communities have few young people and that’s who this job sounds like it would attract.

This is alot of the problem. And oil and gas. No way In hell we can compete with those wages.
