The answer is 16 as many have said. These questions get posed mostly by people that don't understand math or want to confuse people with math skills they already lack.

8/2 takes precedence. 4 is your starting number.

(2+2) is the next == 4 which is now a multiplier.

4 starting x 4 multiplier = 16.

Again, as others have stated, a few more qualifiers change the end value. The intention is to be confusing here.

Write it as 8/(2(2+2)) and == 1

As soon as I looked at it, I saw 1 because this was how I had it pictured in my mind.
