I applaud you not handing them over, but really just curious if folks who think this solves the problem have considered:
Once you have ducked out on defending your right to own the weapon by lying about it's existence, what do you tell the cops if you ever use it again to defend yourself?
Where will you go for target practice?
What if you want to transport it by car and get pulled over?
To me, lying will only buy a temporary amount of time around anti-gun legislation.
Conflict avoidance should start way before you have to lie. Peaceful session is best availed while we still openly have our weapons and plenty of ammo.
