Not to mention the huge influx of federal dollars into Louisiana as a result of the Medicaid expansion that, otherwise, would not have come into the state.

This study done by LSU breaks down the overall economic impact of Louisiana accepting the Medicaid expansion. It says as of fiscal year 2017, Louisiana has received $1.85 billion in federal money that we otherwise would not have gotten.

The federal injection of just $1.85 billion created and supported almost 19,200 jobs, state tax receipts of just over $103 million, and local tax receipts of $74.6 million.

What does “created and supported” mean? I’ve never seen that terminology used.
If it created 19,800 jobs that would be a big number, but if it supported 19,800 jobs that doesn’t mean anything really.
But if anyone thinks the best way to grow the economy and create jobs is via Medicaid, we are in big trouble.
7% match now, 10% next and then what? And keep in mind the applicants are growing faster than anyone thought so it’s not just the percentage you have to be concerned with it’s the big pool of people.
Oh and then there’s the fraud. The state would have to hire more folks to police the system.
