Ship Island beach still nice?
Absolutely. It's about a mile and half to the Camille cut from the ferry dock. It's cool to look at from the ground if you feel like making the walk. It's a mile to the west end which can also be cool spot. With the spillway still open the water is not as pretty as usual. Got a pretty stiff westerly on Tuesday that should dirty it up but with any luck it will be better by the weekend.
If you are taking your own boat and have any questions I'll be happy to help you. Otherwise enjoy the ferry ride and don't forget to bring bug spray. The gnats and horse flies can be challenging.

Thanks. I appreciate it. We will take the ferry. We want just a day at the beach and don’t want a long drive to AL or FL

Yes, ship island is still a great place. As mentioned though, it's not a nice as usual this summer due to the influx from the spillway and rain. It's still a great spot to be, just won't be as clear as usual.
Don't bother. Camille cut was filled in early this year and is no more.
