The tapes should have been cut out completely. Just show us the fallout that a suicide causes to family and friends and show how we can prevent it from happening again.
Instead this show was apparently written by a 14 year old girl who thinks suicide is the ultimate get back

Exactly. Showing the suicide isn’t the problem, though it was probably best not to show it. The problem is that it’s showing suicide as a way to get back at those who wronged you when most likely they don’t give a frick. You only hurt those you love. It isn’t a “gotcha back bitch” tool. It’s an end result of lost hope and the deepest of depression. The show runners missed that as I’m sure the book did as well.
It tried to highlight teenage depression and suicide but they missed the mark. A lot.
