Exact. That would be like people saying Troy is simply a much better team than LSU since they beat us.

That's not the point. That would be like people trying to say LSU was back near the top of the SEC in the same season that they were beaten by a seemingly inferior team like Troy. A blowout loss like UGA sustained to LSU doesn't happen to teams that have separated themselves unless the opponent is elite, and the arguement hinges on LSU not being elite.

UGA has not distanced themselves from the rest of the SEC yet. They have won an unimpressive eastern division and not gotten over the Bama hump, like Florida did under McElwain. I think Kirby has them trending up and this may be the season that changes, but at this point they are not in the same conversation as Bama, same as LSU isn't.

nonsense. UGA played Bama to within one play of victory the last 2 times they've played. We can't even score a damn point.

UGA is far ahead of us. Yes, we soundly beat them last year. Hell of a win - but it was one game. You can do other comparisons: UGA whipped UF convincingly the last 2 years, while we split with them, with both games being very close. Got to look at the overall body of work, not a single game.

By the way, UGA and LSU were in similar spots a few years ago. Elite recruiting, nice-guy coach who won a lot of games but lost some they shouldn't. UGA and LSU both fired their coach. Good move by both.

But UGA has elevated their program substantially, and quickly. I'd argue we haven't done that.
