This is already on the political board where it’s being defended and lauded. Apparently Forrest was a hero who is someone to be admired. And apparently he did like blacks, he just sold them before the war and became a founding member of the KKK, which wasn’t founded to intimidate black people, but to protect from northern tyranny.

Yikes! Glad I don’t go to the poli board.

I don't agree with his choice of fraternities, but you just know this guy was more trustworthy than the entire Senate of today put together.

Nathan Bedford Forrest is racist. I can't wait for the day people like Nathan Bedford Forrest are erased from history and we can watch our fellow citizens get into fist fights at Disneyland on World Star Hip Hop in peace.

Not sure about erasing him from history, then we’re just as bad as the “lost cause” southern apologists. All of this shite should be in a museum somewhere. I’m just not for honoring the guy with a day in his name and statues on the Capitol grounds.

N.B. Forrest was an American hero who fought for limited government and was a great cavalry general.

I live in Forrest County, Miss., so every day is Nathan Bedford Forrest Day!

a general in the Confederate army is not an AMERICAN hero... he's an american traitor, who was on the side that waged war AGAINST america, but let's not let facts get in the way of a good rally...

"America" doesn't equal "The United States of America," much less the US federal government.

America is southern white men. The rest are just people we reluctantly allow!!!

Can someone enlighten us on why this law is impossible to change? It’s only been in effect since the late 60s (shocker) from what I’ve read.

yes, because when you tell someone you're from "America" their instant response is "United or Confederate?" :roll eyes:
get the frick out of here with that semantics bullshite... i know the Civil War is a part of American history, but it doesn't mean we need to congratulate the rebelling side... we don't put monuments up of Japanese, German, Iraqi, etc. leaders...

I was neighbors with one of his descendants. Nice enough guy until he went off the deep end and murdered his wife.

Traitor Racist are easily tossed around. Sooooooo when we live in a representative republic you have states rights but we will toss that out the window. We forget about Byrd from west VA that’s in our modern life time.
On a personal note can you help me understand why in the hell your profession is still filling opioid prescriptions with a benzodiazepine 67% of the time?

i'm not about to try to sit here discuss "states rights", and slavery, and this that and the other, but at the end of the day they actively took up arms against the country we are all a part of... if this shite were to happen today, and lets say Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois seceded and then sent in airstrikes against Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri, states still a part of the US, you still gonna worry about "states rights" and be apologetic to their plight? c'mon man....
