Timing is fixed but a TCI-based ignition setup generally only has one wire that goes to the spark plug. If something has damaged that wire, there is an internal break, or it isn't making good contact with the plug then you will have running issues. Can also have problems if the coil has moved in relation to the flywheel due to loosened hardware or there is enough corrosion between the magnets and coil.

So basically I should just throw this thing away and buy a Stihl.
