You're from St. Louis, aren't you? Or at least the state of Missouri. I'd bet money on it. That is the only place that I've heard the term 'hoosier' used as a synonym of white trash.

Kind of like 'poo-doo' from Vermillion Parish.

Ya know, it really surprised me when I first learned 'hoosier' was a local-only term.

Phonetically and just all around it just seems like it fits so well.

There's so many different types and levels of hoosiers. It's a topic I enjoy talking about.

There's good hoosiers, and bad. And actually wealthy, and midrange, and poor.

The word was almost totally wiped out of my vocab by the time I was out of college bc people were like, what...?
