What if I believe in both evolution and the Grand Architect?
The problem is that evolution and a literal historical Genesis are mutually exclusive.
If a Christian has no problem regarding much of the OT as allegory, there’s no conflict.

How so?
Would it be possible that when the book of genesis was written, the people’s concepts of time was vastly different than ours (Noah being like 900yrs old)? Also, God created everything within one week in a specific order. Not a literal week, but what one would conceive as a week for a higher power living in eternity. This specific order is confirmed by science, for not one thing is out of order in the Bible to what scientist believe as the order of evolution.

quote:where do people get this stuff from? some very smart people have been what are called theistic evolutionists. they completely disagree with your characterization. the problem is in your use of the word literal. iow, that adam was figurative or metaphorical. theistic evolutionists believe in a literal adam and that he was ultimately formed from the dust of the ground.
