I find it interesting that there are always a few LSU fans who bash the AL Gulf Coast. I see a lot of your brethren there every summer repping purple and gold.
Also, the Ft. Morgan area is a great place to stay. Much more secluded (mostly beach houses except for a couple of condo complexes) but only a 15 minute drive back to Gulf Shores. Only “complaint” about it is that you can see natural gas rigs, but they are all several miles off of the coast.

The only reason I’d step foot in your state is to take a big nasty shite on the way to the real beaches in Florida.
