Bruce Feldman ? Verified account @BruceFeldmanCFB Following Following @BruceFeldmanCFB More #LSU is hiring Hall of Famer John Robinson as a special consultant to HC Ed Orgeron. They’ve been close for years from their association thru #USC. Robinson’s wife is from New Orleans & is an LSU grad, he told me: "I've missed being around a team. I’m really excited about this.”

Ed sticking with his youth movement to keep the team abreast of the very latest. Amos Alonzo Stagg was unavailable.

Great move. John knows how to coach 'em up!

Guess we're continuing with the "gotta have someone over 80 on the staff" mentality.

John Robinson is a class act. He'll be a great resource for O. He had a Natty and 5 conference titles at USC. Helps to have a sounding board who has "been there".
Urban Meyer credits much of his success to the advice Earl Bruce gave him throughout Meyer's career.

Curious what this means

Obviously his knowledge of the game isn't cutting edge but I think someone like that definitely has value around your team...as long as he's not drawing up plays or scheming.

I doubt it's for anything gameday related. More about managing your team and staff, I'm sure.

That doesn’t feel like a position you need to hire someone to do.
If O wanted to talk to one of his mentors a phone call doesn’t work?

Robinson was last a head coach in 2004 when he lead UNLV to a 2-9 record. I don't see this move as anything to get upset about by any means, but I'm curious what insights into the modern game that a guy like Robinson could bring. He turns 84 on July 25.

Some you people just like to bitch. If Saban would do the same thing you would be kissing his arse.

What is he 95, about 5 years younger than The President.

You guys will complain about anything. It used to be that we didn't staff up like Bama. Now you bitch about this. If you don't have mentors or sounding boards in your professional life, give it a try. It's a thing.
