One of the few Nolan movies I hadn't seen, and I can understand why this one launched his career. Loved how the editing made me feel like I was having the same experience as Leonard does throughout the movie. Guy Pearce really nailed it, and I didn't find any of the other cast members to be especially weak. I expected a twist ending, and I thought it delivered in a satisfying way. 8/10 and I look forward to a re-watch

A teacher played that for us in high school.
I still don't know how that movie related to what we were learning, but I didn't complain. Very good movie.

Nolan is, sort of, king of this particular type of film - even the Batman movies (and I am not as enamored of these as many Nolan fans are), creating a very specific emotional/atmospheric vibe of the film. You truly do go through what Leonard does, making the reverse chronological order vitally important (as opposed to a gimmick).
Now, I will say, as much as I like The Prestige, I don't think he really approached doing that again until Inception, and frankly, as much as I like it, Inception really isn't the equal of this kind of unique experience as Memento.
It helps that Memento is tightly paced, gripping and there is no fluff or throwaway. All the performances are spot on.

Inception and Interstellar have the same problem. The scale exceeds the ability of the story to keep up. Both movies became better on subsequent watches. They both are a lot to follow, and Inception does a much better job, although i love Interstellar.
Prestige nails it, first time through. Great all around movie that makes you switch your allegiance several times as you figure out who’s really the protagonist.

I'd also argue David Julyan's score in Memento is the best in a Nolan movie. Sets the tone perfectly.
