Planning on being there for a week beginning next weekend. What's the best bait to use and what can I expect to catch? Mainly night fishing from the beach probably right lining but would be interested in early morning fishing as well.

Maybe bring a light and try flounder gigging.

whiting should be plentiful. shrimp works really well.
Not sure if pompano will be there now or not.
I'd guess the water will be pretty dirty with all the rain lately.

Sand fleas are supposed to be good for pompano. Catch em right on the beach the night before. I can't vouch for their ability to catch pompano, but the ladyfish seem to love em,

Just spoke to my nephew and he went this past weekend and fished from the beach. Caught about six really nice specks on live shrimp. He parked at the golf course and walked straight out to the gulf side. Said he was there at sunrise. Good luck.

That main point out front of the golf course is by far the best place to fish during prime time

Use live shrimp under a popping cork or slip cork. Ive always had best success at the golf course right at day light in the curve before you get to the point. i would wade out to ab crotch deep and throw. Have caught sharks, lady fish, pompano, sand and speckled trout, redfish, mangroves, and almost anything else you can think of that swims in water
Hope this helps

quote:This. You can catch a ton of small sharks out there. My buddy and I always wade fished at the gulf course, but we always stayed in that little Bay area right there.
