If EBR would have granted the school district for the incorporated area, the whole St George city wouldn’t have happened.
St G folks to EBR - “We want our own school district.”
EBR folks - “ LoL, no. The only way you can do that, is if you were your own city.
St G folks - “Ok, Hold my beer.”
And here we are now.
I don’t live in the proposed St G area, but I hope this passes. It’s the wake up call EBR needs.

This is exactly why it was an easy choice to relocate to Nashville. My oldest will be school age next year and I don't want to spend an absurd amount on private school.
I hope it passes and I hope the school system in St. George improves.

They didn’t start out asking for a school district. Originally, they just wanted two new high schools, but they were told to pound sand or form their own school district.

This was actually the state legislature, not EBR. The initial promoters of a St. George ISD had Bodi White (I think) propose a bill to create the ISD, and many urban legislators cried that you had to have an incorporated city first. And now we are where we are.
