104.5 podcast clip
Aranda talks Offense and Defense.
A LOT to be excited for.
Sounds like the Offense will truly change and finally utilize the talent we have at WR and HB!
A few quick cliffs:
-Burrow is A LOT more confident and knows where to go with the ball everytime.
-WRs are making more plays.
Using more Option routes than years past which means there changing routes mid way depending on defensive coverage/leverage.
-HBs being utilized more like Saints offense. (some 5 wide sets)
-LBs like really good but no single LB replaces White. More of a collective.
Chaisson looks really good. They were trying to decide on alignment/gap responsibilities for Nickel/safety blitzing and in the film they watched 30 snaps and Chaisson beat his guy 28 times.
-NTs are looking great. Shelvin surprises Aranda with his athleticism. Ika is doing tremendous as a FR on pure talent. Can't wait to see him after he learns more technique. Ika also has a great personality/guys like being around him.
Also, they want to use NTs in a shade position the majority of the time to allow them to attack instead of just "eating space".
-Stingley is amazing. Aranda has to keep reminding himself that he's a FR and not a veteran. He's seen a lot of DBs that have the talent he does, but to take the pressure of the "big stage" in stride as a FR is truly impressive.

Thanks for posting. What a great listen. I can't wait to see this defense raise some hell this season.

The difference between this year and the previous years is you actually saw some of it in the spring game. During the Les years they talked a lot but anytime we actually saw the offense it was the same as always. O seems o actually putting his words on the field.
Now we won’t know for sure until the season starts and really until it doesn’t work. At some point this season in a game the offense will struggle for a quarter or so. The true way to figure out if the mindset of the program has changed is if they stick to it when that happens and figure out how to move forward or if they revert to the old ways. Another old Les problem was when the offense struggled he just went more into a shell instead of letting it work itself out.

He specifically mentions the "Saints influence" at LSU with backs splitting out of the backfield, more empty looks, etc.
It lines up with what we saw during the spring game.

Two biggest things that standout and I like to hear are the WR's altering routes based on coverages(virtually non-existent in the past few years) and that they are gonna want the DT's to attack instead of in the past of just "eating space". If they are proficient at both, could be huge for both sides of the ball.
