I think they are making too much of the Virgin thing. It is not uncommon for couples to take a while to do it. Jamie and Doug (season 1) The most stable and successful of the couples waited until after decision day to do it. (They did imply that they had other types of intercouse).

I don't know that I'd define Jamie and Doug as "stable and successful."
