In The Advocate sports, Brooks Kubena noted Mainieri’s first remarks since returning to the office a week after LSU’s loss in the Super Regional, “I wish I was in Omaha”. The report noted there will be plenty of turnover on the roster, and that Tiger coaches are scouring the countryside for replacements, which fans were expecting.

But the real news concerned LSU’s pitching injuries. The report noted that “Mainieri is doling out a summer of rest to most of the pitchers.” Those on the list include Cole Henry, Jaden Hill, Devin Fontenot, Landon Marceaux and Eric Walker. Mainieri can’t afford another year like the previous, so hopefully this helps.

So basically he recapped everything that was said in yesterday’s press conference?

Where is the link and how is this different than what was posted from the press conference yesterday? You know, other than the obvious exaggeration here:

What is PM doing or not doing with respect to the pitchers' injuries? Is a summer of rest going to matter if they come back and the same system is still in place?

Talk to a couple of people that have inside scoop and they all say the same. Lack of arm conditioning in the fall and then prior to the season starting have been the biggest cause of the injuries. Let’s hope this is a start to getting that corrected?

This is absolutely the right move imo. Our pitching staff needs to rest, but also ramp up strength and conditioning for injury prevention purposes. I'd prefer that they really limit the pitchers in the fall, too. They may start the season a bit slow, even piecing games together because of pitch counts...but that shouldn't be a problem. I want the cupboard fully stocked for the home stretch. With our staff fully healthy, we would be in Omaha right now...and we'll be in Omaha next year if we're healthy.
