After watching all the matches thus far in 2019, here is what I feel like we should be rolling with as a starting XI, and the six top guys afterwards:

GK - Steffen

Def - Lima @ RB, Miazga @ CB, Brooks @ CB, Robinson @ LB

Mid - Adams @ CDM, McKennie @ CM, Roldan @ CM, Pulisic at RW, Weah* @ LW

Striker - Jozy

Subs: Guzan, Sargent, Bradley, Zardes*, Zimmerman (or Gonzales), Yedlin

* - Interchangable in my estimation.

I don’t think Will Trapp has a place as a single DM. If we played him and Bradley in a two DM look, I could see Adams being of use at RB. In ANY other scenario, Adams needs to be CDM.

Who, then? Nagbe comes to mind, but we haven’t seen him in ages.

I really like Lima.

I’m ok with Boyd too, though I want to see more before including him. Also your MF. I don’t see GB using a 4-3-3, or even a 4-2-1-3.

He wants to be 4-1-4-1, 4-5-1, or really any other single striker formation.

Pulisic needs to be on a wing. He’s way more comfortable there.

We have more depth on the wing. We're a better team him at the 10 instead of Roldan.

Agree to disagree here. To me, we belong in a 4-1-4-1 with Adams at DM, Pulisic and Weah/Zardes on the wings, McKennie and Roldan in the middle of them.

I am not a fan of playing someone out of their natural position when they are playing in the best leagues in the world at that position they are natural to.

Capitalize on the strengths, adjust to the weaknesses. Roldan and McKennie roaming the middle is more than enough in my estimation to make Pulisic and Weah effective on the wings. Pair that with the combo play and falling into the midfield that we saw from both Jozy and Zardes, and I think we have an effective attack against most teams on the world stage.

Zardes on the wings is worse than Zardes at striker

Agreed. With that said, he is part of the winger depth we have.

Morris is playing as a winger (which I actually thought he did well there yesterday), along with Nipples, Boyd, Weah and Pulisic.

I actually like what I have seen from Zardes as a striker coming back to relieve midfield pressure, but he is NOT an answer at either position for me moving forward. I'd much rather give Sargent as much camp time as possible to build chemistry with our guys.

Did you not watch what he did in WCQ's as our 10?

I did. He was also targeted toward the end of WCQs when teams started realizing that literally everything we did went through him in some shape/form/fashion. Teams are still doing that when he is in the lineup.

We need to make the best use of EACH player and position. If Pulisic is the best winger we have, which he is, we need him to play winger. Tyler Adams is our best CDM, so we should play him there and not at fricking RB.

I’m reserving true judgement until post Gold Gold, but the way GB is going about things right now seems a bit asinine to me.

I will point out again though that Morris is looking decent on the right wing in my eyes, so that is one thing that seems to be working out.

I like Broski’s lineup but I would probably put Pulisic on the wing where Weah is and have Bradley starting in the 6.

Seems like Roldan worked his way off team as opposed to onto Starting XI.

Also, Robinson not on Gold Cup roster I don’t think?

I used to be all aboard the Pulisic as the 10 train but he didn’t look great there the last few times we played him there. Idk. He looked like a world beater there against Honduras when we won 6-0 in qualifying but I haven’t seen anything like that from him since. He is awesome as a winger though and I think putting him there allows us to keep Bradley in the 11. For better or for worse, we are a relatively young team and I like how Bradley helps keep the team organized when he starts. That said, you can keep Pulisic and Bradley in the center if Adams is played at RB, but the jury is still out on if that whole scheme will work or not.

He's also the best 10 we have.

Again, agreed, but having said that we need a wider set, and having that 4-1-4-1 or 4-5-1 allows the flexibility and eliminates the perceived “need” of Adams at RB.

I’m not entirely sure why everyone has bailed on Yedlin/Lima. Why is Adams the laying at that spot when we have two serviceable options, and one starts weekly for Newcastle?
