Once he was accused, right-minded lawyers would tell him, you have a bright future - admit it for a lesser charge and seal it and make this stain go away.
That's what people don't realize. Everyone says, oh I would have fought it tooth and nail. Bullshite, once you go to trial innocent or guilty, the stain would've followed him and nobody would've recruited him. Guilty by accusation...happens a lot in society and especially in sports and especially in emotionally charged situations like this where nobody really cares about the outcome but simply the accusation.
FWIW this would have been the same advice he’d be given even if he was guilty or innocent. That he was talked into a plea doesn’t mean he was also innocent. It’s possible, sure. However, regardless of whether or not he did it, I do think OSU knowing about it and still signing him only because they knew the records were sealed (no publicity) says a lot, about OSU and us as a society.

quote:Not exactly how that works. The state of Oregon knew about it as per the deal, but OSU personnel were not privy to any of these details. Sports Illustrated did a long piece on this; very informative read.

The Prosecution dangled the sealed records as a carrot obviously and that sounds good to someone with a future in collegiate sports who doesn't want their name dragged through the mud in the papers before they can get there.
His case wasn't sealed.

Eta...from your si link....

Indeed, citing privacy restrictions, OSU officials have yet to confirm what the school knew about Heimlich's crime, and when.
Your link doesn't say they weren't privy. They ducked and dodged. My link below shows they should have known if their own policies are followed. Hopefully you're done spewing false info. But you won't, I'm sure tripling down on stupid will happen.

Oregon State does learn when a student is a registered sex offender, according to university spokesman Steve Clark. Oregon State Police send the university a list of registered sex offenders in Benton County "on a regular ongoing basis," Clark said. The university then cross-checks those names with its student database to verify sex offenders who have enrolled.

Under university practice, he said, the athletics department is supposed to be notified when a student-athlete is a registered sex offender. Citing student privacy rules, Clark would not say whether that happened.

All you have is lies. Pat Casey knew.

This, this, and more this! What the hell are you guys talking about taking the plea to seal the case? The plea didn't seal the case....lol. So he plead...for nothing...but to get it over...
And I call total BS on if he was innocent it may have been easier to plea...what? If he was innocent to raping a minor you don't fricking plea. More so, rarely does a case like this get taken to trial that is not a slam dunk. This was not a he said/ he said case here.
This guy should get absolutely no sympathy.

Second, we don’t know that the young man committed the crime. It was a plea bargain into which it isn’t unusual for innocent people without a lot of money to enter. He, too, was guaranteed a confidentiality that the state inadvertently violated.
Hi Luke!

quote:Yes! And when there was a break in communiqué, OSU had a student whose confidentiality had been violated, meaning they weren’t exactly in a position to remove him from the school.

So did a 6 year old just make the whole thing up?

Could have very easily
Kids are easily manipulated and make false claims all the time. Parents with grudges coach their kids. I’m not saying the kid did but it’s possible

I mean for that story to be out there, kind of feels like something happened
Posted on 6/3/19 at 2:48 pm to Broski
Not necessarily I mean remember the Syracuse things? That family ruined that coaches life and then another kid went with cancer to get free stuff and access.
I do not know if kid was coached but it’s Plausible

So either Luke molested his niece or his brother coached his niece to make up a story that Luke molested his daughter.
Either way, that's a fricked up family.

Yes it is. There’s really nothing good that comes from it
