LSU offered Patrick Jenkins today after he worked out with the other linemen. He has some P5 offers, multiple SEC offers, and some others. I only wonder if we offered him due to the good impression or if it is because we fear we may lose out on some other top guys.

ETA: correcting SEC offers.

He has performed exceptionally well all spring and put in a ton of work this off season i hear.

Hos weight is up from 250 to 285 and has actually gotten quicker and faster

He will shoot up the ranking and would be a top 10 SE if he was two inches taller

He dominated Karr in their spring scrimmage having 3 sacks and multiple tackles.

Kid is the truth. Ruthless.

Word is he absolutely blew up at the camp.

Only thing wrong with him is he's not very tall. But Glen Dorsey played a 3-4 DE in the NFL for a decade at 6-1, so maybe that isn't a fatal problem.

Here's his Jr. Highlights:

LINK

Great first step, uses his hands really well, sheds blocks well, finds the ball well. If he was 2-3 inches taller he'd be a top 10-15 SDE IMO.

Drake Nevis was also 6'1.

Nevis and Favorite both played inside in a 4-3, and at nose in a 3-4 in the NFL, but yeah.

Lewis Neal is another 3-4 example.

The only criticism I'd have of what's on the film is the first step isn't elite, but I think that can be coached. He's strong as a bull and he pursues really well.

I'd take him. If nothing else hes definitely a quality option if you don't get all three between Roy, Guillory and Lee.

Lol he is about to blow up. Will not be a 3 star long. The coaches loved him.

DE Roy
NT Guillory
DE Lee
DT Jenkins

That will probably be LSUs DL haul this class. I got a feeling Berry will get dropped bc of numbers.

They need more than 4 DL this class.

You're not losing your pipeline to cali by dropping Berry. They've worked to hard to pull those west coast kids.

You recruit the best players. I seriously doubt processing Berry will have any kind of effect on Ricks, Burton, or anyone else coming through from Cali in the future.

This is a business not a charity. I have no problem with LSU processing anyone from any school or area if they are trying to upgrade the position.

If you check out the rest of his offers, he has more than just one SEC offer. It lists Tennessee, Missouri, Miss State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M.

The hell you don’t... You realize we signed 2 true DL last year? You win championships on the line of scrimmage. You have to take more than 4 quality DL this go around.

Way too early for that. If O gave him an offer then he feels PJ is legit

I doubt very seriously LSU will offer a scholarship to someone if they didn't believe the player was good enough to play in the SEC, especially at this point with a long way to go before signing day. Ed Ingram and Saahdiq Charles were low ranked 3 stars at this point going into their Sr. years.

He has improved since last year ended.

That is why he is blowing up. He busted arse and hit a growth spurt all while getting quicker, stronger, and faster.

It happens for kids as we all know. Happened for him before his senior year. It isn't unheard of whatsoever.
