I’ve been looking to get an inexpensive band saw. I had my heart set in the grizzly 9” but it looks like it’s been discounted. Anyone own the ryobi model and can give me some feed back on it? It’ll just be used for general hobbiest type of work

not particularly, but on ryobi overall they are a good homeowners tool brand for regular household projects.

i liken then to the old black and decker brand tools, good quality budget tools that will serve you well on a budget

Its pretty good. Don't expect to cut a 2in piece of wood like its butter. get new blades right from the start. The stock blade is horrible.

I noticed that the Grizzly went away too.

I'd get this instead.

Amazon

Home Depot

Also the grizzly says more coming soon. They only make a certain amount of all of their tools, when those are gone they make more, downside is that it can take a few months.

You would be wise to do your research. I bought the Craftsmen 10" two years ago for the reason you are getting into it. The Craftsman saw ($149)(LINK is identical to the Rikon 10-305 ( $299.00 LINK with exception of the motor. The Craftsmen has 1/4 hp motor vs 1/3 hp for the Rikon.

The rip fence is crap and will be for any of these small hobby saws. I bought the Kreg, rip fence for mine and it cuts true using the Kreg fence. The guides are cumbersome to adjust and leave a lot to be desired but you can learn to use them.

Watch as many youtube videos as you can stand to watch on how to setup a bandsaw and you should be very pleased with what ever you get.

The extra inch in size will make a lot of difference and you won't be disappointed in spending the extra $30.00.

Also, as I said the craftsman is identical to the Rikon in quality, so don't pay much attention in the reviews. Woodworkers can be snobbish too.
