Stay on WiFi as much as you can. Get the $10 a day pass. Unlimited text and phone calls. This is the best plan with AT&T.

My wife and I pay the $10/day charge with AT&T when we are overseas that allows us to keep the plan we have at home.

It is well worth it for us and works great.

If you turn on your phone with cellular service enabled, you will be charged $10, and subject to your plan’s data rates. It’s a 24 hour charge, so you get 24 hrs of access at a time. So pay attention to when you might need to use it and plan accordingly.

AT&T II

Info is pretty easy to find. $10 a day or get a package depending on how long you plan on staying.

One word of caution: If you use WiFi, you may not be able to connect to sites that are not GDPR compliant. I was in London last year and couldn’t access The Advocate on WiFi because they weren’t compliant. But if I disconnected I could pull up the website.

Bring an old phone and buy prepaid SIM card for it after you arrive to Europe. Use that phone to hotspot your phones for wifi as needed. It is cheaper than paying $10/day for each phone usage unless you need your phone for calls, text, emails, etc.

Can say I have Project Fi and my phone worked as normal. A couple of years ago when I went I was with AT&T and bought the recommended international plan only to be surprised with a $500 bill the next month. They said I went over the plan when I was using the phone for maps while driving.

WiFi is like 56k in most of Europe.
