Both sides pay for tariffs in the short term. Long term, if producers shift elsewhere, which they will, the produces suffer far more than the consumers. Anyone that suggests otherwise is an idiot.

In the short term no but in the mid to long term yes.
Because it will cost them jobs.
It will cost companies in reduced revenue because the same goods made at home will be more competitive which will increase jobs and raise salaries here at home
A country with basically an overabundance of resources like the US doesn't need global trade, we can make everything here at home, just like we used to do.
It is amazing to me how people don't understand that we have become a service economy and an exporter of our raw materials to other countries and no longer make end products.
This is the opposite of what made us Great.
We used to import raw materials, make the best products, and the world wanted them.
If we continue doing as we are currently, eventually we will collapse economically

When Oil Prices went real high us consumers paid more for it at the pumps.
It made the American energy industries competitive and spurred new tech that allowed us to be a energy independent and we now we are one of the worlds leading exporters of natural gas and oil.

This is actually how most money gets sent back "home" to Mexico and Central America. In every town in almost every state, there is at least one "Mexican" Store that has a money transfer station in it, expressly for that purpose. They charge everyone that transfers money on it a fee for doing so. This is how these places stay in business. It most definitely isn't from selling groceries and knickknacks Hecho en Mexico.

You know what happened last year when the U.S. hit Canadian lumber mills with countervailing duties and tariffs that totaled roughly 20%?
U.S. and Canadian Lumber mills raised their prices roughly 20%.
