I have astigmatism...have worn glasses since kindergarten

I’ve got an appt this afternoon Eye Surgery center on Old Hammond

I’m probably going to have lens replacement surgery or LASIK, whatever they recommend. I’m ready to be done with glasses permanently

My recent prescription says

Sphere cylinder axis
OD +4.75. -1.25. 175
OS +4.25. -1.00. 005

Whatever that means

I guess I hope lasik is an option since it’s much less expensive than lens replacement, but I’m prepared to do it either way

From glasses in K to the prescription, we’re close to identical. I’m sick of glasses. Let me know how the appointment goes

I'll come back tonight and update... I was referred by my primary care Dr to Scott Nelson at Eye Surgery Center. I was going to use Williamson Eye Clinic since I always hear their commercials on Moscona, but my doc recommended Nelson.

This is my first appt, so I doubt any procedure today, but hopefully they'll tell me what procedure to do and we'll get it scheduled for soon. I'm itching to do it ASAP, been losing weight and eating better and now I want to get rid of the glasses forever.

Appt went well, they did a couple eye test, lasted about an hour, I am a candidate!...super stoked!

My pre-op tests are next Wednesday and then my surgery is Friday June 14th!

It’ll be $1600 per eye, $3200 total for all-laser (Bladeless) LASIK. There is something called care credit, basically a 18mo no-interest credit card that I’ll probably do, I’ll have to read more about that later. There is a cheaper option, $799 per eye but that’s standard PRK lasik with blade...not as good.

I’m very very very excited. I was actually prepared for the lens replacement $7000/eye surgery due to my farsighted astigmatism, but they told me no, LASIK is all I need.
