Anyone played Ultimate General, Civil War or Gettysburg?

Youtube/Civil War

I've really enjoyed them. Good real time and strategic battles. The Civil War game seems to take forever to actually finish.

I have not. Just from looking at them they remind me of Sid Meier’s Antietam! from back when. That was a fun game.
The old Talonsoft Civil War games remain my gold standard for computerized war gaming, though.

I played the hell out of this as a kid. Don't think I was ever good at it.

I've played a ton of Gettysburg and it is a lot of fun. I picked up Civil War awhile back and think I'll really enjoy it once I have more time to spend with it. I love the control schemes in these games.
I highly recommend either one of these too to anyone interested in that era!

Hate to admit but I have over 160 hours of playing Ultimate General: Civil War. It is fun and addicting to me because I also played Sid Mier's Gettysburg back in the day. The only thing I wish is that it had more battles under the custom battle option. There is supposed to be a good one coming out later this year, Grand Tactician: The Civil War 1861 - 1865, I'd check it out if you like these types of games.

I bought the Civil War one last night due to your recommendation, and it is a lot of fun. I thought that having a degree in history with a heavy concentration on Civil War history would help, but it really doesn’t seem to matter. You just have to know how to play RTS games, which thankfully I do. Thanks for the suggestion!

Civil War one is tough, especially playing as the Confederates. Damn there’s not much troops to defend against all the Yankees

That first mission as the Confederates is super hard. I've played it like five times, and I still can only beat it on the easiest difficulty setting.
