Spider Rigging Electronics Advice

Good afternoon Outdoor Colleagues:
As you can see by my post history, I read a whole lot more than I post. Thanks to you, and the new garden board I have one of the better looking yards in Magnolia – Better Living Through Chemistry.
I have some questions that involves about two weeks of research. I want to get into Spider Rigging/trolling for crappie/white perch. I have a 16/48 War Eagle with a front deck. I will fish mostly shallow (30ft max depth lakes). I am currently leaning toward a Minn Kota Terrova, I-Pilot 55 with a 45 inch shaft. The features I’m looking for include: GPS, Tracking, Spot Lock, Link, Bluetooth – not the universal transducer.
The sounder I’m exploring is the HB Helix 7 G3 with DI, SI, Chirp, Link, Bluetooth, Maps. What am I leaving out that you believe should be included? Another question is where do you mount the transducer? If you put it on the troll motor, I’ve read the point of reference for side imaging is problematic. I’ve also read that with side imaging, 30ish feet is your max for good clarity, if you mount it on the back of the boat you “lose” 15 feet of forward view because of the length of the boat.
Guys, I apologize for the wall of text, but those that spider rig understand what I’m asking and hopefully can help guide me toward the correct decision/s as I prepare to spend about $3000.00 on electronics.

Everyone is going to Livescope, it will set you back a little more but its tits.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into Livescope. Anything thing in particular that sets it ahead of Helix?

I use much older HB sounders (959/999) with DI and SI. I catch all the crappie I want spider rigging with them. If I were upgrading, I would go with the HB unit that would support the 360 imaging unit; the larger the screen the better. My transducer is mounted on the trolling motor.

Thank you Libertytiger
Over the past 12 hours, I've really studied the comparison of Livescope and HP360. Like you, I catch a bunch of white perch with old electronics. I'm leaning toward an entry level $700 unit as opposed to the $2000-$3000 aforementioned units.

This is sage advice. Spider rigging is my passion like yalls.
With everything you've said in the OP coupled with your reply to LibertyTiger's post, I think you're on the right track. To me spotlock, etc., will catch more fish spider rigging than having live view- especially on lakes that you already know and ledges and contours that you know should have fish.
The autopilot features are game gamechangers on pulling crankbaits for crappie in the summer too. (You ARE pulling cranks AREN'T you? If not, I highly recommend because it's incredibly effective and fun.)
The ease of the "plug and play" adaptability between humminbird and minn kota is another plus, and even though others are catching up, it's why I'm moving from lowrance over to HB (and also a warranty issue and poor customer service issues I've had with Lowrance).

Don’t forget the livescope, it will not disappoint.

Do you pull or push cranks (i.e. pull behind trolling or push in front via spider rig, etc...)

I run a HB Helix 9 and a 899, they work fine, but soon as I can, I'm going livescope unless HB or Lowrance has their version out by then. We pulled cranks this morning.

Next thing will be lures that can steer themselves into the fish's strike zone based on data relayed to the lure via a bluetooth connection to the LiveScope. Then you can just turn the boat loose and let the GPS steer the trolling motor and the LiveScope steer the baits to the fish while you listen to Sirius radio and drink a beer. Now that's fishin!

Nice catch, 325....Cross Lake?

Cypress Lake, Benton, LA. Had to leave at early, the ski boats were too much.

Guys
Thanks for all the great information. I've been looking for those blue tooth jigs and cranks but haven't found them yet - might be the Gen4 version. What I do know - getting into spider rigging is not inexpensive.
