Is the Tundra heavy? Is there any other reasons it doesn't get better gas mileage outside of the 5.7? Because the 4.6 is pretty bad too right?

Relative to the F150 with the aluminum panels? Yes. The motor is heavy, too.

The 4.6 is not efficient, either. It's an engine for initial cost purposes.
Frankly, that was true for lots of V6 options in full size pickups when they exploded in the 1990s - it was an initial cost, not a CAFE thing - at least until the "Super 6s" started to compete on power and economy with the poorer V8s in the market (and the current Eco and Hybrid motors).
