Ok. After reading that about why the missed third strike is a live ball I understand the origins of the rule.

It also makes me want it changed so much more than I ever did. It truly is a remnant of a time of no called strikes, soft tosses for pitches, and red hots for outs. And it was implemented for incompetent hitters.

This rule actually needs to be tossed out

swinging at at strike 3 and pitched ball hits batter = dead ball - still out.

call is strike 3 batter out, dead ball
