We are getting a nanny for the first time to watch our 1-year old and would like to install a camera inside the house to periodically check-in. What is the best one out there currently? Is there a preferred brand?

Also, is there a nanny cam that can be used as part of a home security system later when he starts going to daycare and we don't have the need for a nanny?

Get the Wyze camera. It's like $20 and it's very good. Works with Alexa and you can drop in and 2 way talk. Has motion detection.

Got 2 Wyze Cam Pan cameras at a recommendation from this board and have been very pleased.

You can spin them around 360 degrees and tilt them up and down all from the app. Very easy to set up. Would recommend them.

Thanks! The reviews seems overwhelmingly positive for the Wyze Cam Pan. I ordered it and a outlet mount to go with it.

The wyze camera was a piece of shite for me. I have four Nest Cams. Love them. Works flawlessly.

Arlo.
Hands down.

No wires.
Can put anywhere.
Can put outside for security if you want.
All WiFi.
Free 1 week storage.
Clear picture.

Best? I'd have to go with Nest for ease of setup, cloud storage (with a small fee), good mobile monitoring app. Certainly not the cheapest but probably among the best.

I'd probably go with nest as well, I have it and it's dependable but pricey!! Although if you wish to use it somewhere else later on, a wireless cam would have been your best option, so you can simply transfer it. How is your wyze by the way? I've been very curious about this cam as I am about to add 2 more security cams in our household and I feel that it's a cheaper version of nest, lol
