You sure about that? Maybe not "the" centerpiece but judging by the meetings his re=election team is having and with whom I would say it will be one of the main themes.

It was a talking point, but that's not what he campaigned on in 2016.

Trump's real momentum didn't get going until he listened to an adviser whose name escapes me and listed his judges. That signaled he was serious about the life issue. Even so some of the biggest pro-life names stayed on the sideline during the 2016 cycle. They are now firmly supporting Trump.

He's more than content to leave the GOP out in the cold to fend for themselves on this issue.

Which Donald Trump are you watching? The one I see is firmly and strongly courting pro-lifers. He has spoken to the March for Life which he is the first sitting president to do so. He also has reached out privately via VP Pence to Abby Johnson (Unplanned) and offered support.

By his actions, Donald Trump is one of the most pro-life presidents since Roe v Wade was decided. He isn't walking away from the issue or letting "the GOP fend for themselves".

Yes.

Trump is not a big social issues President. He may blow a lot of smoke up the arse of the pro life crowd but he is never going to allow it to jeopardize his reelection if this abortion fight goes south.

He's all about jobs, fighting illegal immigration, a roaring economy, deregulation, tax cuts, and keeping us out of stupid wars.

Not a social issue that the right has been fighting and losing for generations.

Sure, he may appoint judges that happen to be pro-life but that was a trade off and part of the package deal when he got the list in exchange for mainstream republican support to bring it home in the rural areas and the suburbs to an extent in the rust belt states.

The one that is calculating, watching to see how this abortion fight shakes out and he will never let it jeopardize his 2020 chances.

It's highly unlikely he will comment at all on these abortion bills.
