it was around 9000 last year... Obviously Im doing it wrong which is why i am asking for yalls help.
I personally would rather have more per paycheck and less return.
Do i need to change from being single to head of household? Is it as simple as that?

My original post was sarcastic because it’s a tax refund. The return is what you file.
If you overpaid $10k in 2018 and your filing was legal and correct, you need to simply adjust your withholding to an amount that reflects the accurate amount of taxes owed.
You’ll need to consult a withholding table. To determine the right filing status.
