I’m pretty sure Alabamians have given up hope of being a state worth living in, but to say this type of issue shouldn’t be taken to the polls (ya know, like everything else) is dumb. But go ahead and stay dead last in just about every statistic known to society.

More than a quarter of your state’s children live in poverty and rank second highest in infant mortality. What kind of maternity or family leave laws exist in the state?

Do you understand how our country operates? We are a republic, not a democracy.

First, not everything is taken to the polls. We elect legislators to make laws.

Second, there was a constitutional amendment on the 2018 ballot that dealt with abortion. It passed with over 60% of the vote. It wasn't the same thing as this current bill, but as someone that has lived most of my life in Alabama, I can confidently say the majority of Alabamians are pro-life. That's certainly not saying a whole lot though, because I can also say the majority of voters in this state are incredibly ignorant and self-defeating, but I digress.
