Is an ally someone who goes to war with you?
Is it someone who stands by you militarily?
By that definition, Saudi Arabia is our best ally in the Middle East.
Is it someone who is sworn to go to war on your behalf?
Someone who allows bases of your aircraft and soldiers to operate?
That would be the Turks.
How many bases do we have in Israel?
How many wars have they sent troops or arms to assist with?
What exactly have they done to be considered an ally? Share intelligence? The Russians do that too.

To be fair having invited Israeli troops with us or a coalition in any action or operation would likely cause more problems than their presence would alleviate.

2. He obviously agreed to this interview without bothering to research the journalist in question.
