Wife and I are staying in a condo on Wolf Bay. Are there a lot of hazards running from there through Perdido Pass to fish? Looks like a lot of shallow sandbars.

Running 20' bay boat that drafts about 14". Fishing tips appreciated also.

Follow the other boats and stay in the lanes. You can usually see the shallows around the area.

There are a few places around there that can get shallow. Like the other poster said, stay in the channels and you will be fine. I've ran all over there in my 22' bay boat and haven't had any issues.

Fish the pier lights in Little Lagoon in gulf shores. You will load up on redfish and trout. The green submerged lights are the best.

Launch your boat at the public launch on Ft Morgan rd.

Thanks for the replies. It's my first time in the area, and we will have a private launch and dock in wolf bay. Is fishing any good around there? maybe the perdido jetties?

Wolf Bay... go get a bushwacker at Pirates Cove.

Perdido Pass is a bad place to fish. The boat traffic and fast currents makes it hard to catch fish. If you want to Party with the locals go to Robinson Island.

wife and 4 year old daughter will be with me, so might do.

If I did try to concentrate on fishing one day and not joy riding around, is any place around wolf bay/perdido pass worth fishing or should I trailer the boat to little lagoon or somewhere else?

If you need a spot to fish on a windy or weekday. Fish the canal between Wolf Bay and Oyster Bay. Fish west of the Hwy 59 bridge. Red fish and black drum were being caught there last Thur. Would avoid on the weekend due to boat traffic.

I always wanted to try Oyster bay. Looks to shallow up in there.

Ill give ya all the advice for the family

Hang out on Bird Island, which is right next to Robinson Island. This is the one right off Caribe, where everyone hangs. Its shallow in between the channel and the island, be careful. A lot of people walk their boats around this area, but with a shallow bay boat, you might be good. Some people set up chairs in the water here or hang on the island. Just depends on the crowd.

On the other end of Ono Island towards Florida, there are two very small sand islands, that are good for a boat or two, nice and quiet.

If you really want quiet, head further down the intercoastal into to florida just under the bridge. Once you get past the no wake zone, is Johnsons Beach on the right. You pretty much just find your spot how ever far from the next person and claim it. There is a lot of space. However the water over here isnt as pretty, but the beaches are nice

In Old River area(in between Ono and beach) just east of the bridge, a lot of people anchor on the ono side of the river and hang out. its very shallow there.

Cotton Bayou(No wake zone) is just to the west of Tacky Jakcs. You might be able to cruise up and down here and see some dolphins.

Eating. Tacky Jacks, Flora Bama Yacht Club, old River Grill are all places you can boat to and wear pretty much anything and grab a bite. Orange Beach Marina has fishers downstairs thats a bit nicer, but a good place to eat. Then like mentioned Pirates Cove for a bar/party spot

The good thing about the shallows in the area is its usually just sand

Fish any and all creek mouths in Wolf/Hammock Bay. Use a drop shot or carolina rig with live shrimp. Should be able to catch a limit of reds this time of year.

Find grass flats in Wolf Bay. You can fish the piers around Ono early in the morning or at night and do well.

I’d go the both Sam’s and J&M Tackle and ask for advice though. They’ve been very helpful to us in the past.

I'll add elberta grocery and get the stuffed pork chop if you have a place to cook at the condo.

If you're launching next to the old wolf bay lodge there are plenty of piers worh lights around there.

I grew up having a camp on Old River but it was sold a few years ago. The fishing was decent around the state park area a decade or so ago but now it's just too busy. I'm pretty sure most of that stretch is a no wake zone these days due to volume of boats
