Hello guys, looking for some help. In 1986, I bought a new truck and gave my 1979 Chevy Luv 4x4 to my oldest who was 15 at the time, a year later I lost him in a boating accident, and the luv has been under a shed ever since. I have a grandson who will be getting old enough to drive, and I have decided to restore my sons truck and give it to my Grandson. They are very hard to find, but they are out there. I need parts for the restoration project and was hoping someone might know were there's a truck for parts or if anyone knows were I might be able to order parts. I have been all over the internet, but can't find some of the parts I need. Any help with this, I will be grateful.

Awesome little truck, and one hell of a thing to do for your grandson.
I just looked up Chevy luv fan page on Facebook. They have a a few groups. You could join them and ask the members. May get you moving in the right direction.

This seems to be the largest website/Forum for the LUV Trucks. I have an old British car and the type specific forum is where I got hooked up for all my parts needs and vintage car insurance. Good Luck!

Forums are always a huge help. I would've broken so much more without them
You can also figure out which vendors are the best, and which parts work better than others

Nice thing to be doing for your grandson. I learned to drive on a manual transmission Luv.

My best friend has a 2WD late 70s Luv as well.
His brother did some work to it back in the early 2000s: dropping a 5L crate engine into it with Edelbrock everything and a new higher geared tranny. Brother blew the engine and shelled the stock rear end in the same day, then started working on it again.
Dropped a 5.7 in it this time with a bigger tranny and new heavier duty rear end. The amount of work he put into it as a shade tree guy was staggering. When it came down to the wiring, he had gotten bored of it (adhd) and gave it to my best friend.
Since then, it's been sitting under a carport going to waste for 15 years. That engine was never even turned over. I'd love to see that thing run again and it absolutely drives me crazy
