I have two units that run my house. One of the Units only cools down my bonus room area upstairs. The AC hasn't been blowing cold and I am going to get someone to come look at it. My questions is, if it needs to be replaced could I just get one of those mini split units to run and what are your experiences with these? We dont go up there much and its not a huge room to where we could just turn it one whenever we want to go up there, which is basically what we do now with the AC.

Woah man, slow down. Why do you think it needs replaced? Age? It likely just has a freon leak like a $300 fix.

Also, Mini splits are great to ADD or to install in new construction. If you already have the duct work set up, you can likely get a regular unit for a similar price as a mini split if you are just talking like a 1.5 ton.
