Yes, it's usually quite a bit cooler in Paris/northern France than in most of Italy.
ETA: the distance between Paris and Florence is around the same as the distance between Chicago and New Orleans.

Paris Is usually pretty mild. South of France can get hot to be honest. Maybe not really hot, but without A/C you definitely notice it. It made nights for me pretty uncomfortable. I understand now why my fiancée has a habit of always walking around the house naked.
